When
I was called to take a look at a roof leak in tswassan,
I got excited....yes it doesn't take much. I like the
area, it has an incredible view of the waterfront and
the ferry terminal. I had already been there before
so I knew where the leak was. When we started to take
the old roof off the deck underneath was considerably
rotted. The more we ripped off the more I didn't like.
The rot had traveled up to the support beams and into
the the pitched roof. Well as you can imagine the owner
wasn't happy to see that much damage but was happy we
could fix it. Finally halfway through the day we got
all the rot out and started to install some new wood.
Once the new wood was in place it was tarp time untill
the next day. Now when we quoted the job we were only
going to do the flat roof with the skylight, but what
actually had to be done do to the rot was the flat roof,
the pitched roof and the small skirt above. The cost
on this was alot, but when you run into this much rot
you have no choice. On day two we finally got to the
roofing part of the job. The pitched roof had a 20 year
BP Coco Tan T-lock on it. That was the product that
we went with so it would blend with the older parts
of the roof. The color was really close even though
the older roof was about 7 years old. For the flat roof
we installed an IKO Fiberglass base, IKO 180 SBS plain
and an IKO 180 SBS Cap. Re flashed the perimeter and
it was done. I took in another view of the water front
and I was on to the next job.
